Wellllllllllllllllllll, Optimus is a awsome character. I loved the voice of Peter Cullen. One shall stand, one shall fall. Autobots transform and roll out I allways get heebie-jeebies when I hear it. As a kid I was so sad as I watched Optimus died in the TV series. Then there was the Transformer animated movie and a new series without Optimus Prime, except one part when he came back as a zombie. As I watched it I knew what I was missing in the new TV-series. There was no Optimus Prime in it. All the following series, Beast Wars and other stuff was crap, but thats just my opinion. Now Im a old man. And as an old guy I like the motion picture better than the tv-series. I love the first motion picture and watched it many times. By the way its the only movie by Michael Bay that is good. The second movie sucks. But its a good adaption of a TV series. So as a old guy I choose the movie Optimus Prime.
I voted cartoon, but I guess it makes me a bad fan that I have to clarify that I put the Primes of Transformers: Animated (the recent cartoon), Transformers Cybertron/Galaxy Force, and Transformers Robots in Disguise/Car Robots (the combined Omega Prime) ahead of G1 Prime's design.
Much respect to G1, but I love the way the design has evolved over the years.
They're both awesome, but as cool as the movie version is with today's technology, they made ALL of the Transformers way too "alien", I guess you could say. With the cartoons and the spinoffs such as Beast Wars, the models were simple, but you could still connect with 'em. The guys in the movie are so detailed and have so many little bits and pieces that don't need to be there that it's hard to tell what should. So yeah. I'll go with the cartoon simply for, well, simplicity's sake.
I defiantly agree with you. I liked the earlier designs for the TF movie, but the second movie just got away from the designs they first conceived. If you haven't seen some of the Massive Black designs they were real sweet, hella lot better than what they picked for TF2. imo
