Me I like playing a game with same gender but some times the opposite gender. But I notice in MMO's mostly men are playing with opposite genders.. thats why theres another term for MMORPG its called Many Men Role-Play as Girls
Matters on if there's a difference between the male and female characters such as stats, storyline or gameplay and such then yes I'll play as a female character (ex. playing as the Hunewarl in PSO and former best character in Smash Bros. was Samus - Now MetaKnight). Unless it's just for aesthetic reasons (Pokemon enough said) then I'll normally play as my own gender.
First of all Iam male. It allways makes me feel strange to play a fem chara. Its a transsexual feeling. It feels wrong. I had tried it a few times in WAR and Lord Of The Rings MMORPG's. It dosent suits me. Even in Street Fighter I only play the male chara. Maybe Chun Li a few times. But I liked to play Lara Croft. In between, the first part on the PSI was the only one that was good. Maybe it is fun to play Bayonetta too. Dont know, I only have the PSII My resume, if it is a role playing game, no fem chara for me. If it is an adventure game, like MS Croft it will go.
Although if both genders are evenly matched stats-wise, I also consider the character design. If the female designs are better than the male, I'll go with that.
